Address and tag do not have the same role
On the XRP Ledger, a platform can receive deposits from multiple users at a common address. The destination tag allows it to attribute them. A transaction accepted by the network does not prove that the tag corresponds to your account on that platform. Use the value given by the recipient, without inventing one.
XRP and Stellar: read the right instructions
XRP uses a numeric destination tag. On Stellar, instructions may indicate a memo with a specific type. Stellar also describes multiplexed addresses that integrate an identifier, but not all services accept them. This article does not guarantee their support by this form or the current availability of XRP or XLM in quotes.
Verify receipt in our form
Select the asset and network before pasting the address. If the form offers a memo field, copy the value given by the wallet or recipient platform. The confirmation of absence of memo does not replace their instructions. Then review the destination and memo in the summary: these are the values used to create the request.
Distinguish receipt memo from deposit memo
The receipt memo concerns the funds you will receive. Deposit instructions may also include another memo for funds you send. Do not automatically copy the same one on both sides. The deposit QR code contains only the address: also enter the amount and memo displayed, on the indicated network.
After an omission, keep the references
Find the exchange reference, deposit hash, and instructions used. Open the private tracking to identify the relevant step and applicable support. If the payment is complete to a recipient platform, also consult its support. Never share your recovery phrase and do not assume a new transfer will correct the first. Recovery is not guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Is a tag always required to receive XRP?
The need depends on the recipient's instructions. A platform using a shared address may require a tag, while another destination may work without. Check the receipt of your specific account; do not copy another wallet's rule.
Does an empty memo mean the same as zero?
A provided value and an empty field are different. Do not replace a lack of information with zero. The form keeps a memo entered as text, to avoid silently changing its representation.
Does address validation check my recipient account?
Address format validation does not prove that your account will be credited or that the memo matches the correct beneficiary. The receipt instructions from your wallet or platform are still necessary.
